WOVEN CREEL

In the 1800s, the Indian and Chinese economies held more than 50% of the world's GDP. However, both countries were drained of their resources due to colonization. In the latter half of the 20th century, mass-produced, cheap Chinese products took over the market, and consumers were forced to buy them. As a result, we never regained the manufacturing capabilities that once made us prosperous. With the changing political conditions, we now have a chance to create a sustainable manufacturing hub by reviving our dying arts and crafts. The idea is to create a lampshade from everyday objects to promote native materials and support local craftsmen. Handmade products are sustainable as they use less energy and are usually made with natural materials. This handcrafted lampshade is a simple product that embodies individuality, character, and a human touch.
