PROTOSPACE AND IWEB PAVILION

This is a pavilion for the computational studio of Hyperbody, Dept of architecture, T.U.Delft. This project uses packaging material, encapsulated polystyrene as the construction material. EPS when coated with a hot spray technique, makes the material weather proof, acoustically insulated, and having architectural and structural integrity. The building is made of hexagonal components which can be joined together to create the larger structure. Smart sensors and control systems are embedded into the components to create a lively and interactive environment. The components are wire cut using a computer controlled machine. The details for specific functions like heat exchangers conduits and connections are made by 5 axis milling. The final product is assembled at the site.
